Shortly before his death, the celebrated Soviet and Russian choreographer Yuri Grigorovich transferred the copyright to 11 of his productions free of charge to his assistant, Ruslan Pronin, the magazine Post- reported, citing unnamed sources; Meduza said it had independently confirmed the account. Grigorovich's works form the backbone of the Bolshoi Theatre's repertoire and made the company's international reputation. The transfer means the Bolshoi may now have to pay Pronin royalties to continue staging the ballets, potentially adding a new cost and legal complication for Russia's flagship theatre. The theatre has not publicly commented on the reported arrangement.
